Min K. Kang was born in Busan, South Korea, and was raised in Texas. For the past two years, she has worked with America Reads, a federally funded program to increase literacy and to help foster a love for reading at West Portal Elementary School in San Francisco.
She likes to write about the Asian American immigrant experiences that are often ignored in mainstream media. She also likes to explore the complicated, gray area of love in her poetry as well. Her work is featured in Asia Literary Review, Santa Clara Review, Transfer Magazine, and the forthcoming anthology that is collected by Thymos, an Asian American awareness and activism group based in Portland, Oregon.
She attended Texas A&M University, San Francisco State University, and will start her MFA in poetry at Louisiana State University this fall.
